Ukraine: Trump: "Tariffs on Russia without a deal within 50 days"
WASHINGTON (USA) (ITALPRESS) – “I’m disappointed in President Putin, because I thought we’d reached an agreement two months ago, but it doesn’t seem to have happened. So based on that, we’ll add secondary tariffs, and if we don’t reach an agreement within 50 days, it will be 100% tariffs. I hope I don’t have to do that.” This was US President Donald Trump’s statement during his meeting at the White House with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The talks focused on the conflict in Ukraine and the supply of weapons to NATO allies. Specifically, the US president spoke of secondary tariffs, which means they could target Russia’s trading partners. If Trump’s plan were to come into force, it would be a clear attempt to isolate Moscow from the global economy. Rutte, during the Oval Office meeting, praised Trump after the announcement of the supply of new weapons to Ukraine, reiterating that the country needs all of this to be able to defend itself from Russia: “What we will do is work through NATO systems.” to make sure we know what the Ukrainians need, so we can prepare the packages.” The NATO secretary general also added that Ukraine will receive “a maximum amount of military equipment,” including missiles, air defense systems, and ammunition.
